The organic coffee cherries for Lungo Caffè Crema are cultivated in Ethiopia and Uganda.
Ethiopia is the cradle of coffee. As legend tells, clever goatherds discovered the invigorating, blissful effects of the Arabica crop with its unique aromas more than a thousand years ago. Due to the traditional African dry-process, the coffee cherry's exotic flavours remain unaltered. Therefore, Ethiopian coffee typically features a strong basic sweetness along with fruit and floral aromas, as well as noticeable acids; more nuanced than Southern American varieties, but still less complex than most Asian coffees.
One of the poorest countries in Africa, Uganda depends greatly on its coffee production. Whilst Arabica is cultivated on the volcanic soils of Mount Elgon, Robusta is native in the Kampala forest region.
